Seiko Lord Quartz Mossy Dial

Seiko has been at it since 1881 out of Tokyo, Japan — one of the oldest watch companies on the planet and absolutely nowhere near done. They're still producing, still innovating, still that name your grandfather had on his wrist before it was cool to care about that stuff.

The Lord Quartz was Seiko's premium quartz offering from the late '70s into the early '80s — positioned above the standard lineup, built for the person who wanted the best of what quartz could do at that moment in time. The line was eventually discontinued, but the Lord name carried on through Grand Seiko, which tells you everything about the respect it commanded.

This one has a cushion case, day-date window in kanji, applied baton indices, and a steel beads-of-rice bracelet that wears as well today as it did forty-odd years ago. But what you're really here for is that dial. Call it mossy, call it tropical, call it alive — the patina has taken on a life of its own. Marbled, layered, muted greens and creams moving through what was once a clean white face. You can't manufacture that. Time did that.
