Seiko has been running since 1881 — founded in Tokyo by Kintaro Hattori, and still one of the most dominant forces in watchmaking on the planet today. Grand Quartz was Seiko’s answer to their own question: what if quartz movements were treated with the same care and prestige as mechanical ones? Launched in the mid-1970s, the Grand Quartz line sat above standard Seiko and below Grand Seiko — a precision tier for people who wanted accuracy and aesthetics without compromise. Still very much alive, still very much respected.

Now, full transparency on this one: the dial has seen better days. The condition isn’t perfect — there’s patina, wear, the kind of life that accumulates over decades. That’s reflected in the price. But here’s the thing — that marshmallow dial is exactly why collectors keep hunting these. That warm, toasted cream tone that develops on Grand Quartz dials over time is genuinely hard to say no to. It doesn’t matter that it’s imperfect; it matters that it exists, and that you found one.
